Chapultepec Castle — Upcoming Events 2026
Theatrical performances, free Noche de Museos nights, daytime concerts in the Alcázar courtyard, and the September anniversary programme. All events sourced from official INAH and Ticketmaster records.
Two theatrical productions by La Infinita Compañía are currently running inside Chapultepec Castle — performed in the castle's original rooms and courtyards, making the historic setting itself part of the experience. Both run on weekends through August 2026.
A theatrical journey through the madness of Empress Carlota — the Belgian princess who became Mexico's only Empress, who loved Maximilian and Mexico with equal devotion, and who spent 60 years in a Belgian chateau believing she was still on the throne. The production combines live music, dance, and theatre, performed inside the castle where Carlota herself once lived. The setting is not incidental — the audience sits in rooms she actually inhabited.
Written and directed by Rodrigo González. Produced by La Infinita Compañía. Tickets via Ticketmaster MX.
The companion piece to Carlota, Imperio tells the story of the Second Mexican Empire from the perspective of Emperor Maximilian — his idealism, his fatal misjudgement of Mexican politics, and his final days before the firing squad in Querétaro. Performed in the same rooms of Chapultepec Castle where Maximilian lived, worked, and received foreign dignitaries. Together, Carlota and Imperio tell the full story of the empire from both sides. Low availability on some dates — book ahead.
Produced by La Infinita Compañía. Tickets via Ticketmaster MX. Some Sunday performances show low availability.

The July Noche de Museos programme at Chapultepec Castle has not been announced yet. Based on previous months, expect: guided exterior tour from 17:15, a historical talk in the auditorium at 18:00, and a main cultural performance (concert, opera, or theatrical reading) at 19:00 in the Patio de Eventos. Check mnh.inah.gob.mx/agenda for the confirmed programme closer to the date.
Programme not yet announced. August Noche de Museos evenings at the castle typically feature a daytime concert included with admission (12:00–13:30 in the Alcázar courtyard) followed by the free evening programme. Watch the official INAH agenda for confirmation.
September Noche de Museos coincides with the museum's anniversary period (late September to early October) and the run-up to the 13 September commemoration of the Niños Héroes. Expect an enhanced programme with historical content tied to the Battle of Chapultepec and the 179th anniversary of the event.
13 September marks the anniversary of the 1847 Battle of Chapultepec and the deaths of the six young cadets known as the Niños Héroes. The Museo Nacional de Historia holds an official commemoration each year, typically including a ceremony at the monument at the base of the hill, special guided tours of the castle emphasising the 1847 events, and free entry or reduced admission for the day. Full programme announced by INAH in August 2026.
Each year the Museo Nacional de Historia marks its founding with a 10-day programme of concerts, talks, and guided tours. The 2025 edition marked the 81st anniversary — 2026 will be the 82nd. Daytime activities included in standard 210 MXN admission; evening events free with limited capacity. Exact dates announced in August. In 2025 the programme ran 23 September – 2 October.
Throughout the year, Chapultepec Castle hosts free daytime concerts in the Patio del Alcázar — typically on Thursday and Friday lunchtimes, 12:00–13:30. These are included in the standard 210 MXN admission ticket. No booking needed — arrive before 12:00 to secure a good position in the courtyard.
The castle's cultural department (Departamento de Promoción Cultural) programmes these in rotating series: classical chamber music, choral ensembles, young soloists from Mexico's national conservatoire, and occasional world music programmes. Specific performers and repertoire are announced on the INAH agenda approximately two weeks in advance.
